How to Book a Kimono Rental in Kyoto

  1. Choose your plan — pick a plan type above, or start with a standard Komon plan from ¥3,300 if you're unsure.
  2. Select a time slot — choose your store, date and arrival time. Morning slots work well for a full sightseeing day.
  3. Confirm your reservation — enter your name and email, then submit. Payment is settled in store on the day.
  4. Visit the store — arrive a little before your slot, pick your kimono and accessories with staff help.
  5. Get dressed & explore — dressing and hairstyling take about 40 minutes, then walk straight onto your Kiyomizu-dera or Gion route.
  6. Return — back by 17:00 the same day, or use the free next-day return option.

Before Your Visit

  • Arrive 10–15 minutes before your reserved time.
  • Wear a top with short or easily removable sleeves — it makes dressing faster.
  • Basic hairstyling is included; bring hair clips or ask staff for style ideas.

Choose your store (Kiyomizu-dera or Gion/Yasaka), pick a date and time slot, select a plan and optional services, then confirm with your name and contact details. You'll receive the reservation details right away, and payment is settled in store on the day.

What should I prepare before booking?

Just decide which store is most convenient for your route — the Kiyomizu-dera store or the Gion/Yasaka store — and roughly what time you want to start. You can adjust the kimono style, plan and services in store, so there's no need to decide everything in advance.

Should I book the Kiyomizu-dera or Gion store?

Book the Kiyomizu-dera store if you plan to start at Kiyomizu-dera, Sannenzaka or Ninenzaka. Book the Gion/Yasaka store if you plan to start around Yasaka Shrine, Hanamikoji or the Gion district. Both stores are on the classic Higashiyama kimono routes.

Your time slot is secured for your chosen store. On the day, arrive a little before your slot, choose your kimono and accessories with staff help, get dressed with hairstyling included, leave your luggage at the store, and start your route. Return by 17:00, with free next-day return available.
