When to book

Peak seasons — cherry blossom (late March to April) and autumn foliage (November) — fill up days in advance, so book 1–2 weeks ahead. In quieter months, a few days' notice is usually enough, and the online calendar shows live availability for both stores. Same-day slots appear regularly when it's not peak season.

Questions visitors ask before booking

Do I need to book Kyoto kimono rental in advance?

It is strongly recommended during cherry blossom (late March-April) and autumn foliage (November) seasons, when shops fill up days ahead. In quieter months, same-day booking is often possible but reserving online is always safest.

Can I change my kimono plan after booking?

Yes. You can cancel and re-book online, or simply ask the staff at the shop on the day. Same-day changes are possible up to 15 minutes before your reserved time.

What is included in the rental price?

Kanwa's all-inclusive plans cover the kimono, undergarment, obi belt, tabi socks, bag, professional dressing, basic hair styling and free luggage storage. There are no hidden fees.

Can I book on the same day?

Same-day bookings are welcome when slots are open. Kanwa's online system shows live availability for both the Kiyomizu-dera and Gion stores, so you can see and reserve any open slot immediately.

How long does the rental process take?

The full fitting, dressing and hair styling takes about 40 minutes. Return is by 17:00, with a free next-day return option if you want to keep the kimono longer.

Reserve your preferred time before visiting Kiyomizu-dera or Gion.

Two stores, live availability, all-inclusive plans from ¥3,300.
