Kimono Photo Spots in Kyoto

Within a 5-20 minute walk of Kanwa's two shops: Kiyomizu-dera's stage and Sannenzaka/Ninenzaka lanes, Yasaka Shrine and Hanamikoji in Gion, plus Eikando and Fushimi Inari a short train ride away.

Kiyomizu-dera offers the iconic stage view and stone lanes; Gion offers machiya streets, the Yasaka gate and evening lanterns. Many visitors do both — they are about 20-30 minutes apart on foot or one bus stop.

Right after opening (many temples open at 6:00 or 9:00) for empty backdrops and soft light, or late afternoon before sunset for golden-hour shots. Midday is the most crowded.

Yes — it is about 15-20 minutes from Kanwa's Gion store by Keihan train. The Senbon Torii tunnel is the highlight; go early and walk past the first sections for emptier rows of gates.
